Question
Is the Alberta Orphan Fund Levy chargeable to the Joint Account?
Answer
The Alberta Orphan Fund Levy, as invoiced annually to the well licensee or facility operator by the ERCB, is an allowable charge to the Joint Account as an environmental liability under CAPL, PJVA and PASC documents.
While there is no detailed information on the invoice describing the well and facilities involved, the licensee/operator may access the ERCB website (www.ercb.ca ) to obtain a detailed listing of its deemed liabilities through the ERCB Digital Data Submission (DDS) system.
The invoiced amount can then be allocated to each well and facility based on this deemed liability obtained from the website.
Any similar fund amounts or levies invoiced to a well licensee or facility operator by any other Government agency would also be chargeable provided that sufficient detail is available.
