The Petroleum Accountants Society of Canada (PASC) has released the highly anticipated 2011 version of the Accounting Procedure. Also released were three related interpretation guides required for a full understanding of the Accounting Procedure: Chargeable Engineering Activities, Chargeable Communication Systems and Chargeable Field Computer Systems.
The 2011 Accounting Procedure (and related documents) replaces all previous versions of the PASC Accounting Procedure (including the most recent 1996 version) that are currently in use for domestic joint ventures. The current PASC Frontier Development and Exploration Accounting Procedures still remain as guidance documents for frontier operations.
Special thanks goes to the PASC Joint Interest Research Committee for leading this change initiative and creating the documents that are key to managing joint venture cost sharing arrangements. The Board of Directors of PASC and the Joint Interest Research Committee also extend their thanks to the many industry stakeholders who actively participated in the process through the various industry feedback cycles.

- PASC 1996 Accounting Procedure
- For use with CAPL Operating Procedures, Unit Operating Procedures and Construction, Ownership and Operating (CO&O) agreements in Western Canadian joint operations. Revision to the PASC 1988 Accounting Procedure and PASC 1991 Facilities Accounting Procedure. It includes the Modifications Exhibit, Explanatory Text and Summary Grid, all of which are now an integral part of the Accounting Procedure.
- PASC 1991 Frontier Development and Operations Accounting Procedure
- Intended for use with Operating agreements covering development, operations and maintenance of joint projects in the offshore and the Arctic areas.
- PASC 1991 Facilities Accounting Procedure
- For use with Construction, Ownership and Operating (CO&O) agreements for significant facilities such as gas plants, gathering systems, compressors, etc., in Western Canadian joint operations.
- PASC 1988 Accounting Procedure - Joint Operations
- Rewrite of 1983 Accounting Procedure allowing more flexibility in recovering operator costs. For use with CAPL Operating Procedures covering Western Canadian joint operations.
- PASC 1986 Frontier Exploration Accounting Procedure
- Covers exploratory joint operations in frontier and offshore areas. Recommended for use with CAPL Frontier Operating Procedure.
- PASC 1983 Accounting Procedure - Joint Operations
- For use with CAPL Operating Procedures covering Western Canada joint operations. Requires slight modifications for use with unit operating agreements.
