PASC Power Play - Carbon Tax
Event Starts: November 22, 2019
Time: Registration and Breakfast 7:30 am Presentation 8:00 am
Location: Calgary Petroleum Club (319 5th Avenue SW)

Join PASC for a POWER PLAY on November 22, 2019 at the Calgary Petroleum Club as we discuss and review the implications of the Federal Fuel Charge that will come into effect in Alberta, January 1, 2020.  With the repeal of the Climate Leadership Act there is no longer the 2023 oil and gas production exemption for producers.  In its place, the Federal Fuel Charge will replace the Carbon Levy with new compliance requirements.  The Alberta government is also currently developing an opt-in approach for Conventional oil and gas under the TIER program for emitters.

Speaker:

Tracey Osmond, FCPA, FCGA, Grant Thornton LLP, Calgary

Tracey is a senior manager with Grant Thornton LLP in Calgary, where she enjoys helping clients manage their Canadian sales, fuel and carbon tax risks. Her broad understanding of sales, fuel and carbon taxes is backed by 20 years of combined experience in public practice and as indirect tax director for a large fuel marketer.

Tracey has assisted hundreds of organizations with commodity tax matters such as audits, mergers and acquisitions, integrations, cross-border activities and IT implementations and uses her in-depth understanding of indirect taxes and business practices to reduce tax risks and compliance costs. She is also a past presenter on sales and carbon Tax matters.

Event Starts: January 22, 2020
Time: 11:30 a.m - 1:30 pm
Location: Associations Plus 600 900 6th Avenue SW

Given that the Alberta-proposed TIER has recently been accepted by the Federal government, PASC is assembling a “peer forum” of industry partners to meet over the noon hour and discuss best approaches and company adaptation to the program. We feel there is power in collaboration with industry partners to successfully implement TIER requirements.

PASC will be hosting a peer forum on January 22, 2020 11:30 – 1:30  at the Associations Plus offices at Suite #600, 900 6 Ave SW. A casual lunch will be provided at no cost to Power Play attendees. Space is limited, so if you wish to participate in this round table discussion, are able to contribute/share your best practices, and/or have unanswered questions from the seminar, please register here.

Following the session, if attendees wish to set-up additional sessions, details can be discussed.
