JV Audit Considerations and using technology to thrive in a socially distant environment

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything about the way we work and interact with each other in the energy industry. Technology has helped us stay more connected and continue with our work responsibilities, but challenges may arise when coordinating and conducting a joint venture audit in a remote work environment. Designed for both operators and non-operators, this one hour webinar will 1) present options and recommended best practices for coordinating and conducting joint venture audits remotely, 2) address programs, systems and technology for data management, and 3) review COVID-19 related cost considerations in context of eligibility under industry agreements.

Mr. Kody Carroll, MBA, CFE
President

As President of Integrity Audit and Accounting Ltd., Kody has been specializing in joint venture accounting and joint venture audit for both upstream and midstream oil and gas companies for over 20 years. He has performed and managed a number of audits at a multitude of companies across the industry and has been involved in training on PASC model agreements, equalizations, joint venture accounting, and joint venture audit.

Kody has a MBA from the University of Calgary specializing in Global Energy Management and Sustainability, and is an accredited (CFE) Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented response which has chilled economies around the world.  This has lead countries to respond by providing income supports to individuals and businesses.  With news changing daily, it is a struggle to keep up with the changing legislataion to Canada's response to the crisis.

Our presenter - Kim G C Moody, FCPA, FCA, TEP - CEO of Moodys Tax - will provide an overview of the various Canadian governments’ responses and provide tips and traps with respect to such income supports

KIM G C MOODY FCPA, FCA, TEP

CEO | Director, Canadian Tax Advisory

“People who know me know that I’m only really good at one thing – tax! I’m the guy that carries the Tax Act everywhere, dinner with my wife, hockey games, to bed. At least I started to look a bit cooler once it was available on iPad!”

The antithesis of the status quo, Kim is driven to innovate new and better ways to do things for the clients he serves, the advancement of the firm, and other professionals in the tax profession. His relentless obsession with getting to know everything in the Tax Act makes him a highly sought-out resource for peers and clients. And while a dyed in the wool tax geek, he has a unique ability to transform the technical details into plain English to make the information real and relevant.

As an energetic, serial entrepreneur himself, he has always been drawn to work with like-minded people. Kim’s primary area of expertise is tax and estate planning for owner-managers of private corporations and executives, particularly those who have entered into the tax complexities that come with being affluent. Though admittedly not one himself, he also works with many professional athletes (a guy has got to dream after all).

Deciding years ago that sleep was highly overrated, Kim also makes time to share his immense knowledge through writing, lecturing, teaching, and being an active leader in the national tax profession. His enthusiasm and commitment to make a lasting impression on the tax world knows no bounds. He also recently fulfilled his long-standing goal of receiving admission into law school and is currently exploring ways to fit this ambition into his busy schedule.
